Global Anesthesia and Respiratory Devices Market driven by Technological Advancements in Anesthesia Devices

The global anesthesia market is boosted by technological advancements. Anesthesia machines including ventilators, workstations, monitors, and delivery machines have been upgraded with recent technological developments. During anesthesia, there are certain circumstances where failure to recognize over medication or failure to recognize hypoxia and cardiovascular collapse leads to death of the patient. Anesthesia-related mortality has been prevalent across hospitals and the technological advances have been integrated to help medical practitioners identify any complications arising during anesthesia to prevent patient’s death.

Sedasys CAPS System: Automated Anesthesiology Machine
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has recently approved the Sedasys® computer-assisted personalized sedation (CAPS) system, an automated
anesthesiology machine to provide sedation during colonoscopy and endoscopy procedures. The computer-assisted sedation device integrates physiologic monitoring of the patient while administering drugs for minimal or moderate levels of sedation. At the same time, the machine tries to prevent over sedation and alerts the medical team if oxygen desaturation or apnea is occurring. The device provides physiologic assessments of the patient every few seconds to identify oxygen desaturation. Though some anesthesiologists have expressed concerns about the safety of the system during emergencies, this latest development in the global anesthesia devices market is expected to significantly reduce the chances of over sedation among patients during colonoscopy and endoscopy procedures.

Air Pollution Fuels Global Respiratory Devices Market
Growing air pollution has led to an increase in number of patients suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), countries such as China and India are home to the most polluted cities in the world. In fact, the WHO data has revealed that India has the highest rate of death from respiratory disease in the world. Rapid increase in the number of people suffering from various respiratory ailments such as asthma, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), and chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD) has helped the global respiratory devices market to grow due to the incessantly increasing demand for nebulizers, humidifiers, positive airway pressure devices, oxygen concentrators, reusable resuscitators, ventilators, and inhalers.
In developing economies, growing industrialization has led to increased air pollution. The key players in the global respiratory devices market are focusing more on developing nations with the increased number of patients suffering from various respiratory ailments.
